Obituary for William Lee "Bill" Vandenburg

William "Bill" Lee Vandenburg was born on Thursday, January 6, 1949 to Homer and Hazel (Evans) Vandenburg in Bokchito, Oklahoma. He passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his residence in Wade, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years 2 months 27 days. Bill married Georgia Elliott on July 24, 1993 in Pueblo, Colorado. Bill loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing his guitar. Bill was an outdoorsman and would hunt and fish when he could. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Vandenburg, of the Wade home; sons, Danny Vandenburg and wife Brandy of Durant, Oklahoma, Harold Vandenburg and wife Anissa of Wayne, Oklahoma, Brandon McCann and wife Cheri of Hindsville, Arkansas, Nick Cunningham of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Johnny Cunningham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughters, Tina Hardesty and husband Bill of Yuba, Oklahoma, Tonya Tompson and husband Sam of Durant, Oklahoma, Amber Gilbert and husband Brian of Bennington, Oklahoma, Jenny Gilbert of Bennington, Oklahoma, Shirley Morgan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tammy Vandenberg of Bennington, Oklahoma; brothers, David Vandenberg and wife Brenda of Highland Village, Texas, Pete Vandenberg and wife Teresa of Bennington, Oklahoma; sisters, Kathy Dufty and husband Alan of Rye, Colorado, Bobbie Vandenburg of Bokchito, Oklahoma; ninteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Hazel Vandenburg; grandson, Danny Lee Vandenburg Jr.; brothers, Homer Harold and Larry Wayne Vandenburg; sister, Janie Bonnell and his good friend, Stoney Haislip. Family Hour will be from 7:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, April 7, 2011, Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Chapel, 121 N. 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. David Malphrus officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Vandenburg, Bobby Vandenburg, Steven Vandenburg, Don Gilbert, Tommy Elliott, David Malone, Brian Jackson and George Elliott.
